Needs

Video surveillance (or CCTV) represents an important aspect of a buildings’ security strategy: Other than intrusion detectors which can only identify IF somebody is in an area, video systems can also help understanding WHO is in the area and WHAT HE DOES.

In this respect, video surveillance helps preventing, discovering and documenting theft or other unlawful behavior, and provides building occupants with an increased sense of safety. Especially systems with video recording capabilities have a track record for providing great help in solving crimes.

Solutions

CentraLine’s BMS system allows the integration of leading CCTV systems, including solutions from Honeywell (RapidEye, MaxPro), Axis, DedicatedMicros and Milestone. Depending on the CCTV system, all or a subset of the following functions can be supported:

  • Camera control, such as move, tilt, zoom: In conjunction with a fire detection system, this can be used to automatically point the camera to the area in which e.g. a fire has been detected or an intrusion alarm has been observed. Fire detector based camera movements enables firefighters to prepare the correct counter strategy for the given type of fire before entering the building.
  • Live Camera video in BMS graphics, providing a single user interface to the building operator.
  • Event detection: Automatic motion detection that can trigger an activity in the CentraLine BMS system. An example would be to activate lighting or HVAC systems once a movement is detected.
  • Controlling digital video recorder functions, like record, pause or playback, which could be enabled on demand to document critical situations.
